Questions following your treatment? Here are some answers!
What does Botox feel like afterward?

Immediately following your Botox treatment, you might experience a slight stinging sensation at the injection sites, with small, red bumps forming in those areas. These effects are generally mild and should subside quickly.

In some rare cases, you may develop a mild headache post-treatment, but it’s usually short-lived and can be alleviated with over-the-counter pain medication.

Is bruising after Botox normal?

Bruising after Botox injections is uncommon, but it can happen. Bruising occurs when the needle accidentally hits a blood vessel, allowing blood to pool beneath the skin, which results in a bruise. Even highly experienced practitioners can cause this, so it’s not a reflection of their skill.

Certain factors can increase your likelihood of bruising, such as taking blood-thinning medications (like ibuprofen or aspirin), having thinner skin, or having underlying medical conditions that affect blood clotting. Be sure to share your medical history with your practitioner to ensure they can provide the safest and most appropriate treatment for you.

If you're on blood-thinning medication or have medical conditions that might increase your bruising risk, consult your doctor before undergoing Botox treatments.

How soon after Botox can you get a facial?

If you’re planning to get a facial along with Botox, it’s best to schedule it beforehand. Post-treatment facials can interfere with Botox and lead to complications.

It’s recommended to wait at least 14 days after Botox before getting any facial treatments, including microneedling, waxing, massages, or microdermabrasion, to ensure Botox is settled. These procedures can cause the Botox to move, increasing the chances of bruising or irritation.

Can you exercise after Botox?

While it may be tempting to stick to your regular workout routine, it’s advised to avoid exercising for at least 24 hours post-Botox to prevent sweating or touching your face, which could lead to infection. Intense physical activity can also cause your facial muscles to move in ways that might cause the Botox to migrate.

If you must exercise, stick to light activities and avoid exercises where you lie flat or wear headgear that could put pressure on the treated areas.

Regular daily activities, like going to work or running errands, are fine as long as they don’t strain your facial muscles.

How can you extend the effects of Botox?
Although Botox typically lasts 3-4 months, there are ways to help it last longer:

-Protect your skin from the sun: Use a high SPF to shield your skin from UV damage.
-Reduce stress: Frowning due to stress can cause Botox to wear off faster as it works harder to relax your muscles.
-Avoid smoking: Smoking damages skin cells, which can cause the effects of Botox to fade more quickly.
